Hours are: Mon-Fri, 3:00pm - 11:30pm (full-time 40 hours per week)
Required education: High School Graduate or equivalent
Required minimum experience: CNA or EMT
Required license/certification: CPR
Required skills (if applicable): Demonstrates knowledge of emergency department and CAT Scan protocols. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Demonstrated knowledge and skills of phlebotomy and venipuncture is preferred.
I. Patient Care
•Uses multidisciplinary, team oriented actions Assesses and recognizes the patient’s emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions
•Greets and escorts patient, using two forms of ID and assists with time-out procedures
•Handles patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and assists with patient monitoring
•Assists technologist with checking patients' charts for pregnancy form
•Demonstrates knowledge of the location and purpose of equipment
•Uses proper body mechanics when assisting patient
II. Equipment Operation and Maintenance
•Operates, cares for and cleans ancillary equipment
•Documents ancillary equipment malfunction
•Reports equipment repair needs
•Unsafe conditions and equipment handled per policy.
•Cleans equipment and room to sanitary standards
•Coordinates with Environment Services and orders Wexcide as necessary
•Assists with daily, weekly, and monthly equipment checklist
•Monitors patients waiting time and communicates with modality teamleaders and patients
•Utilizes "Ticket to Ride" in patient transportation
•Verifies that patient has been properly prepped such as contrast media, IV access and lab values.
•Signs patient in and out of nursing units and bring patient’s chart during transport
III. Professional Accountability and Partnership
•Maintains and enhances technical skills and technology advancement and regulatory changes.
•Attends departmental continuing education, meetings, and checks email
•Participates in system, entity and/or department performance improvement activities, internal committees, professional organization or hospital sponsored community service activity
•Identifies, troubleshoots and initiates quality improvement
•Coaches other staff on professionalism
•Assumes personal responsibilities and learns about new technologies affecting work.
•Recognizes ethical and legal concern and reports through established channels of communication
•Assists with research and collects information for department projects
•Manages time and reprioritizes as necessary
•Displays proper phone etiquette
•Performs any assignment deemed necessary by supervisor
•Strives to meet department KPI's
•Works independently and knows when to request direction on a project or when performing unfamiliar tasks.
•Reports free time to supervisor
IV. Holding Room Activities
•Assists with obtaining pertinent patient information as needed such as previous images or laboratory values
•Reports any changes observed in condition of behavior of patients
•Assists with positioning, lifting and turning and ambulating patient.
•Uses proper body mechanics
•Assists licensed personnel and physicians
•Restocks supplies routinely
•Enters ordered test into computer
•Files test reports and results in patient's records
V. Patient flow
•Answers incoming calls at the prep desk for inquires; provides assistance, records and directs messages.
•Uses CD burner to provide patient with accurate patient information when needed
•Clarifies orders with nursing units, ER and physician's offices as necessary
•Assists with maintaining patient flow throughout department and updates exam board or prep desk regarding completion of procedure
•Monitors patient's wait time and communicates exam status with radiologist, team leaders, technologist and/or patients
•Facilitates patient satisfaction (turnaround times) and process efficiencies.
•Coordinates and communicates with modalities on multiple exams and transport of patients
