Medical Unit is a 55 bed Medical unit. Our team provides care to patients admitted with general medical diagnosis such as, but not limited to: pneumonia, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Failure, G.I. Issues.
The typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:5 on the Day shift and 1:6 on the Night shift. We have 4-5 PCTs on each shift and Unit Secretaries for support. We also have Charge RNs, Day and Night Supervisors and Clinical Nurse Leaders to support the growth and development of our nurses.
Our team has a Unit Base Council to help make decisions about the care we provide to our patients. In line with Texas Health, we follow standardized processes to provide excellent care to our patients. Self scheduling.
7a-7p, Every other weekend required

Graduate of a NLN (National League of Nursing) or CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited nursing programs. BSN preferred.
RNs hired after January, 2014, require completion of BSN within 3 years of start date. RNs hired within THR after December, 2016, require completion of BSN within 2 years of start date.
One year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program, or acceptance into a THR residency program.
Texas Board of Nursing license to practice as a RN, Current AHA BLS training.
The RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient care.
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in a fast-paced environment is also a must.
