Our HEB facility is in need of a Nurse Practitioner RN on a full time basis in the cardio vascular administration department. The ideal candidate for this position will be a team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Shift: Monday - Friday with rotating weekend coverage
Required minimum education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program and Nurse Practitioner Program
Required minimum experience: 2 years’ experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred
Required license/certification: Licensed by Texas State BON for RN and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive
authority; Nurse Practitioner certification; BLS; ACLS.
Required skills (if applicable): Strong verbal and written skills, a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, high level of professionalism,
knowledge of advanced practice nursing issues, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. The primary
responsibilities of the NP are in relation to the care outside of the procedure/operating room. The NP works under the
direction of the surgeon or cardiologist, and duties consist of pre and postoperative care of the cardiology and/or
cardiothoracic surgical patient (see next section). The NP is expected to perform clinical tasks on the patient unit ex: removal
of chest tubes, sutures, temporary pacing wires as directed by the surgical staff. The NP will discharge patients (complete
discharge paperwork, discharge summary, and communicate with cardiologist/PCP) when appropriate.
