Qualified candidates will be a Graduate of a NLN (National League of Nursing) or CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited nursing programs. For RNs hired after Jan 2014 completion of BSN within 3 years of THR RN start date as defined in offer letter. Effective Dec 2015 RNs hired or transferring in THR completion of BSN within 2 years.
Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Texas or Compact State.
BSN - Preferred
Current AHA BLS and ACLS certification.
One to three years of acute care Med/Surg hospital experience is required. In addition to licensure and required experience, applicants must hold a current ACLS for Telemetry coverage. Type at least 35 wpm and basic computer application knowledge to include charting and documentation proficiency; MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Shift 7:00 pm - 7:00 am; 72 hours per pay period-willing to work alternating weekends.
Previous telemetry experience preferred.
Prepare assessment of patient's progress and keep family informed, monitor pain management procedures, participate in the discharge-planning process, ensure current and accurate patient documentation, and supervise nursing support staff members. Organizes and manages nursing activities reflecting due consideration for patients' needs and the needs of the facility and staff. Performs patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces likelihood of medical/healthcare errors. Adheres to patient identification processes and side/site verification. Follows universal precautions in handling/disposing of contaminated items, blood and body fluids and hazardous materials.
Adhere to HIPAA, Safety and Infection Control guidelines. Candidates will need to be able to effectively communicate in a clear manner with guests, patients, physicians, team members and other employees. Computer skills are a must.
