Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to work Full-time nights in the Respiratory Therapy Department.
36 HOURS weekly, (3 )12 hours shifts.
(7:00 pm-7:00 am).
Graduate of two-year, American Medical Association (AMA) approved Respiratory Therapy program as required by National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
1 year of Med/Surg or critical care experience preferred.
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION
Must hold a current license from the Texas Medical Board to practice Respiratory Care (RCP).
RRT, BCLS, ACLS and NRP - Upon Hire
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. Good patient evaluation skills. The ability to read, write, and speak English with a high degree of understanding. The ability to hear and interpret breath and cardiac sounds with a stethoscope. The ability to read computer terminals, ventilator settings, etc. while performing respiratory therapy duties.
Excellent verbal, and written communication skills. The ability to hear breath sounds and cardiac sounds with a stethoscope. Must be able to see the computer read outs for ventilators and computers used in the provision of RT services.
BASIC respiratory therapy skills include: oxygen & aerosol therapy, bronchodilator therapy, volume therapy, breathing exercises, patient monitoring devices & techniques, SCI protocols, stop smoking counseling, peak flow, NIP & FVC monitoring.
ADVANCED Respiratory Therapy skills include: CPAP/BiPAP ventilation, all modes of adult ventilation, weaning from ventilation techniques and/or protocol, transport of ventilated pts. CPR, Rapid Response calls, Blood Gas draws and analysis, bedside monitoring devices, airway care, trach care.
R.T. PROTOCOLS—initiation, assessment, application, follow-up, and completion of adult respiratory therapy protocols. This includes oxygen protocol, ED treat and assess protocol, and ED mechanical ventilator protocol. *RT Protocols are not available in the neonatal, infant nor pediatric patient populations
Patient Assessment, Care planning and Adjustments in RT Care
Patient & Family Education on respiratory therapy procedures or illnesses.
Record keeping and documentation of respiratory therapy job duties, including review of careconnect physician orders each day and physician notes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
