Qualifications/Duties:
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech in the Surgery Department

PRN:  As needed
Monday and Friday 6:30am-7:00pm
Call required ***Must be able to respond within 30 minutes***

Minimum Education Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology

Minimum Licensure/Certification Requirements:
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate of an accredited surgical tech program
Or
CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate/completion of a military training program in
surgical technology within 2 Years
Or
LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon
And
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 Days

Minimum Experience Requirements:
1 year current operating room experience preferred

Minimum Skill Requirements:
Must be able to scrub basic surgery cases.
A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, acceptable grooming practices and ability to function in a fast paced, changing environment.

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sets up, scrubs and runs mayo for surgical procedures.

Assists surgeon by draping patient, passing instruments and suture; maintains correct sponge and instrument count.

Prepares operative tissue specimens, places in preservative communicating to the circulating nurse the name and the origination of the specimen, may transport to lab.

Provides care for the surgical patient by preparing necessary supplies, equipment and instrumentation needed for the surgical procedure by using physician preference cards.

Perform other duties as assigned.
