Qualifications/Duties:
Texas Health Denton is seeking a Scheduling Specialist for their Scheduling Department to work on an as needed/PRN basis.

Hours/Schedule:
Variable shifts to include weekdays, weekends, evening and daytime shifts. Must be available to work a minimum of 24 hours per month including 4 Saturday or Sunday shifts.

Required minimum Education:
• High School diploma or equivalent

Required minimum experience:
1+ year's related experience required
2-3 years of scheduling experience, especially in a hospital setting highly preferred.
Other hospital and physician office experience helpful
Medical Insurance Verification experience preferred

License/Certification:
• CHAA (Certified Healthcare Admissions Associate) preferred

Minimum Required Skills:
-Ability to type 35 WPM, spell, write and print legibly with knowledge of personal computers required. -Strong data entry, organizational, interpersonal communication and customer service skills required.  
-Ability to handle heavy telephone activity, while able to adapt to rapid changes in multitasking environment.
- Prior medical scheduling and medical terminology knowledge preferred.

Job responsibilities/duties:
*Collects demographic information from patients and/or family members and enters into the hospital's admissions/scheduling module. Ensures that patients are scheduled in the appropriate areas and two identifiers are obtained. Schedulers ensure that Carepricers have been ran and that accounts are forwarded to Financial Counselors in a timely manner so that patients can be notified of any estimated portion that may be due on DOS. Schedulers are responsible for being 3-7 days out for Insurance verifications. Schedules testing and/or procedures for multiple departments in an accurate and timely manner ensuring maximum productivity and expedient patient flow.
*Advises patients and/or physician office staff of preauthorization requirements, pricing, and out of pocket expenses to ensure maximum reimbursement for services rendered. Performs Medessary checks of medical necessity for patients with medicare as a primary payor to ensure documentation is in compliance with applicable guidelines.
*Has knowledge of HIPPA regulations, Medicare Guidelines, EMTALA law. Complies with and is knowledgeable of hospital and department safety procedures and policies. Knowledge of and participates in the hospital's performance improvement program. Maintains Customer rights (Confidentiality, privacy, safety, security, and decision making).
*Effectively communicates with patients, physician office scheduling, surgery scheduling, and/or other necessary staff as needed to reduce appointment time/date errors. Stays abreast and complies with applicable regulations, entity and/or system policies and procedures. Maintains customer service and/or productivity guidelines set forth by applicable leadership.
*Demonstrates willingness to work toward department and hospital goals and objectives. Provides proper documentation for all registrations to appropriate clinical/registration areas. Helps to insure that patients get to appropriate clinical/registration areas through proper communication. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. Assists in the orientation and training of new registration staff.  
*Attends monthly staff meetings.
*Completes other duties as assigned.
