Texas Health Denton is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech in the CS Sterile Processing Department

Full Time: 40 hours per week
Monday-Friday 1:00pm-9:30pm
Call Required - must respond within 30 minutes

Minimum Education Requirements:
High School Graduate or G.E.D.

Minimum Licensure / Certification Requirements
BLS required
Central Sterile Certification preferred

Minimum Experience Requirements
Prefer 1 year of Sterile Processing experience

Minimum Skill Requirements:
Knowledge of infection control/asepsis; sterilization process to include steam and chemical, instrumentation, ability to monitor schedule and coordinate instrument technician

- Continually stays current on the operating room schedule and provides needed instrumentation during the work day and assures instrument
availability for after hour cases

- Consistently communicates openly, constructively and with respect for others
- Responds promptly to needs of the surgical team regarding instrumentation availability
- Utilizes steam and chemical sterilization processees in accordance with standards and manufacturer's recommendation
-Accurately performs all required biological monitoring and air removal (Bowie Dick) testing according to policy and documents results
- Reviews each cycle of each process for performance and holds autoclave load if parameters not met, then reports malfunction to supervisor, the
appropriate department, and OR charge person
- Maintains all quality monitoring records and detailed autoclave load lists of each process used
- Monitors instrument trays for damaged or broken items and replaces as needed
- Demonstrates proper decontamination of instruments
- Separates decontamination procedures from the clean or sterile storage area
- Verbalizes understanding of event related sterility, uses appropriate packaging and wrapping materials as related to the process used, monitors
instrument trays and individual instruments for reprocessing needs
Utilizes correct PPE-Personal Protective Equipment
- Is knowledgeable and complies with manufacturer's instructions for safe use of the equipment (autoclaves, mechanical washer)
- Restricts the weight of the instrument tray to prevent staff injury when lifting and moving
- Immediately reports and removes from use any defective instrument or equipment
Verbalizes names of all instruments and how to prepare for cleaning and autoclaving
- Demonstrates knowledge of req2uirements for each tray
- Consistently provides an accurate instrument count list in each tray. When list not available, initiates actions to make a list.
