Qualifications/Duties:
The Vice President will be responsible for the strategic direction of THR Nursing Services’ Departments, with a focus on overseeing a system wide professional nursing practice model and assuring provision of evidence-based nursing excellence to all patients.  The incumbent will possess experience with management of a hospital based nursing research program and demonstrate strong personal experience conducting and facilitating research projects and grants, as well as, strong project management, communication and planning skills.  The Vice President will exhibit the ability to lead and facilitate interdisciplinary groups using change management techniques and proven PI techniques.  This position requires computer proficiency and skill in using a variety of software applications including statistical software packages, word processing, presentation applications and spreadsheets, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Experience is also preferred in Magnet Program and Magnet Appraiser.

This position has the following duties and responsibilities:

The Vice President will plan, organize and delegate activities as required for duties that include but are not limited to: CPM coordination; faith community nursing; nursing research and evidence based practice activities; nursing annual report development; magnet programs and professional practice activities.  This includes active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish these activities.  Incumbent will also facilitate the selection, implementation, education of staff, and ongoing evaluation of a professional practice model and theoretical framework for nursing at THR.  Candidate will need to be capable of leading system efforts toward implementation of Evidence-Based Nursing Practice to enhance the delivery of safe and effective patient care through literature review and benchmarking activities, as well as, leading entity Magnet Program Directors (MPDs) and Pathways to Excellence champions in an action plan that sets the stage for consideration of an eventual system Magnet designation.  Responsibilities will also include being able to provide direct oversight for part-time system CPM Coordinator, approving work priorities and strategic direction of CPM development at THR and the direct supervision for system Clinical Nurse Leader and Faith Community Nursing Coordinator.

Education and/or Experience:

•PhD degree in Nursing is preferred; however, other doctoral degrees in education or related fields are considered.
•Registered Nurse, licensure in Texas; Certifications in nursing administration is required within 9 months of assuming this position.  
•Applicants must have minimum of 10 years’ experience in acute care nursing
•Knowledge of industry standards related to Joint Commissions, CMS, OSHA, regulatory standards for areas of responsibility.
•Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, Lean and Clinical Microsystems.
•Knowledge of population health and accountable care organizations principals as related to future directions and rile of SANE program, faith community nursing, patient education, and coordination of care.
•Preferred experience with electronic health record and automated documentation management systems.
•Must be able to analyze and manage information.
•Ability to supervise a diverse and independent staff within the organization and in the community and hospital settings.
•Must be self-directed and goal/outcome/measurement driven.
