Qualifications/Duties:
Required minimum education:
Associate degree in Applied Science or equivalent from an accredited School of Radiology Technology or Cardiovascular Technology

Required experience:
Previous experience in cardiac cath lab or critical care preferred

Required license/certification:
ARRT or RCIS or RCES required; BLS, ACLS also required. CPI within 90 days of hire

Required skills:
Effective communication with guests, patients, physicians, and team members.  Treat guests, patients, employees, and physicians in a manner consistent with Service Excellence guidelines.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Each person is accountable for communication and integration of his/her contribution to health care.
Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Takes action to reduce/eliminate patient risks.
Assist Physician with all invasive procedures
Performs technical procedures safely, proficiently
Adapts care measures to reflect age-specific and developmental considerations
Assesses the knowledge, skills, and learning needs of team members in relation to the needs and acuity level of  
patients before the delegation of care.
Performs as resource/instructor of technical skills
Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient's plan of care
Produces documentation that supports and meets regulatory requirements.
Performs time out procedures correctly

Works with other team members to resolve patient issues
Communication with other care providers is timely, accurate, and complete
Patient/Family education and informational needs and barriers to learning are addressed & documented
Provisions are made for those who do not speak/ read English
Monitors patients ECG, hemodynamic pressures and alerts the patient care team of changes
Records, collects, interpret, and calculate data from the procedures for physician review
Operate multi-channel physiologic recorders, digital data recorders, oximeters, injectors, recorders, emergency and all related electrical and mechanical equipment necessary for all procedures
Report all malfunctions to supervisor/coordinator immediately
Perform scrub and monitor role during invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures
Provide care for patients receiving mechanical ventilation and IABP
Assist in circulator's role as needed
Remove arterial and venous sheaths and achieves hemostasis using manual and mechanical pressure
Provide patient care in coordination with team members
Assures clear, effective communication regarding patient care
Identifies and interprets cardiac rhythms, recognizes lethal arrhythmias and provides interventions based on pre-established protocols.
Age-specific safety measures are incorporated into patient's care
Equipment appropriate to age group is utilized
Technical Procedures are adapted to reflect age specific and development consideration
Delegates procedures as appropriate to the licensure/registration, education and competence of team members
Utilized by other staff as a resource
Documentation is complete, accurate and legible
Safety Checklist/quality controls are complete as required
Charges are complete, accurate, and legible
Transport of non-controlled substance medications, including removal from automated dispensing cabinets

Active participation in helping unit meet key performance indicators
Assumes responsibility for/participates in projects if asked
Practice reflects current methodology supported by current research and Clinical Practice Model practice guideline
Attends required meetings
Provides evidence of participation in process improvement activities
