Texas Health Prosper is seeking a RAD MRI Tech in the IHC Imaging Department

PRN: as needed
Variable shifts
Call Required

Minimum Education Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of radiology technology or enhanced program

Minimum Experience Requirements:
Prefer 6 months of MRI experience

Minimum Licensure/Certification Requirements:
CPR, State of Texas licensure and ARRT (R)
.ARRT (MR) eligible (1 year to obtain certification).

Minimum Skill Requirements:
Computer and Customer Service Skills

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care:
- Uses multidisciplinary, team oriented actions to ensure the continuity of patient care
- Prepares room for examination(i.e. supplies, injectors, linens, etc)to ensure room is in order and ready for use to reduce patient risk and present a
professional environment
- Checks physician orders and exam requisitions to verify accuracy of exam and relevant clinical information
- Greets and acknowledges patient, using two forms of ID to identify correct patient and exam by asking DOB and checking patient armband, while following infection control guidelines through exam
- Provide superior customer service to patients and customers to maintain and increase customer satisfaction
- Obtain patient history and symptoms determine appropriateness of exam in consultation with radiologist
- Appropriately handles patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices to ensure safety of patient
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment to appropriately respond to patients in distress
- Uses proper body mechanics when assisting patient to ensure the safety of patient and staff
10.Processes patient information, displays proper phone etiquette and transports patients as needed to provide efficient flow throughout the department
- Maintain outpatient schedule to ensure patients are seen in appropriate timeframe with minimal to no delay in treatment to increase customer satisfaction.
- Safely administers contrast media and other medication in accordance with medication administration guidelines to provide proper medication dosages; uses appropriate route, and are alert to response to medication that may vary with age of patient.
- Adapts procedures to reflect age specific and developmental considerations to provide psychosocial care of the patient is adapted to meet the age specific needs for body image, relationships and communication styles

Imaging Procedures, Quality and Processing:
(MRI and Diagnostic)
- Explains procedures to patient or guardian / family member if applicable prior to exam to improve understanding of procedure according to age-specific needs and according to patient’s learning capacity and language barriers
- Position patient to correct anatomical area of interest and select appropriate coil to properly produce desired projections of anatomy requested by referring physician
- Perform MRI and MRA examinations according to departmental policies and procedures to produce high quality MRI/MRA examinations
- Adjusts technique parameters appropriately for age related factors, pathology, and desired tissue weighting to achieve desired results for evaluation by radiologist for the area being imaged
- Processes and manipulates images on workstations to produce 3D data sets and reformatted images
- Processes data with specialized software on workstations to produce charts, graphs, and specialized views helpful to the radiologist in reading examinations
- Maintain attention to details and quality control assure correct anatomical and positioning markers are used, correct patient information is on images, and applicable charges
- Analyzes image quality and technique adjustments and has the ability to verbalize trouble shooting techniques to assess the need for repeat and to be able to instruct new staff
- Network images and exam data to other host such as PACs and Telerad to provide radiologist with exams for dictation and provide a means of long term storage for patients exams
- Prints laser images from modality or copies films to prepare images for referring physician and/or patients
- Performs all quality control and quality assurance testing according to TDH and ACR ensure quality imaging and maintain accreditation

Equipment and Maintenance:
-.Adjusts technical factors to compensate for clinical diagnosis and patient condition
- Operates, cares for and maintains all equipment to provide proper utilization of apparatus
- Applies knowledge of physics and accessories to maintain acceptable image quality
- Troubleshoots and properly documents equipment malfunction to ensure timely repairs and patient safety
- Maintain equipment and room to sanitary standards to create a safe environment and follow infection control standards
- Demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards to maintain image quality and safety to the public
