Human Resources.
• Accountable and responsible for patient care requirements and staffing needs.
• Responsible for personnel functions including staffing, performance reviews and corrective action.
• Promote professional growth and development of all employees.

• Supports shared decision-making through the unit-based council in order to develop inter/intradepartmental teamwork and team goal accomplishments.
• Establish colleague relationship with physicians, unit personnel, other departments and administration.

• Meets target to retain personnel with the qualifications and competence to support the skill level required and the goals of the unit.

Describe the standards for this goal/responsibility:
• Collaborates with all customer groups (staff, physicians, patients, family, external customers) to determine customer expectations.
• In conjunction with staff evaluates customer satisfaction on a regular basis to determine customer expectations.
• Takes appropriate actions to remedy gaps in a timely manner.
• Meets annual retention KPI.
• Meets targets for overall satisfaction (i.e. employees and physicians).

Continuous Improvement.
• Develop, implement, monitor and assess processes that impact patient outcomes.
• Use benchmark data from internal and external sources to identify opportunities for improvement of care and patient safety.
• Identifies and takes action to resolve ineffective processes in collaboration with staff and other disciplines.
•Utilizes the VALUE model, makes provision for data collection, analysis and actions.
• Supports the dissemination of outcome information.

Fiscal Management
• Prepare operation and capital budgets for areas of responsibility
• Manage the approved budget and adjust strategies as needed to meet budget expectations.
• Communicate information from management reports to direct care providers.
• Identify and evaluate patient care requirements and outcomes based upon patient acuity, system and budgetary guidelines.

• Completes budget on schedule within parameters with justifications submitted to supervisor.
• Develops action plan that addresses variance -positive and negative.
• Manages operating budget for unit effectively.
• Utilizes management reports to evaluate budget and staffing variation.
• Monitors and evaluates staffing effectiveness, productivity and total cost per unit.
• Implement strategies to meet budget expectations.
• Anticipates and coordinate action to help provide adequate staffing to meet patient needs.
• Facilitates safe, efficient unit staffing.
• Reports unresolved unit staffing issues to CSO and Admin Supervisors.
• Supports flexible scheduling to meet needs of patients and staff members.
• Forecasts needs for staffing.
• Anticipates and plans for chances in future staffing requirements.

Operations.
• Plan, organize, and delegate activities as required for safe, efficient, and effective operation of peri-operative services including active participation with other hospital and leadership staff to accomplish this purpose.
• Provide resources and guidance to support the utilization of evidence based practice standards.
• Identify and utilize processes and resources that support optimal delivery of data and information to staff.
• Develops, implements and maintains current departmental/program policies and procedures that are compliant with all regular agencies.
• Meets service area KPI targets.
• Monitors compliance with policies, procedures and standards.
• Implements practice changes directed by evidence based research.
• Enables staff to participate in meaningful decision making.
• Meeting minutes reflect shared information and decision making.
• Facilitates staff attendance at meetings.
