Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology, or Cardiovascular Technology School

Required Minimum Experience: 2 Years Vascular Angiography

Required License/Certification: ARRT and or LMRT, CMRT or LMRT(Texas) if RCIS, ACLS, BLS

Required Skills: Basic Computer & Network Management
Sterile Technique, Procedural Scrub
Radiologic and ultrasonic digital imaging and acquisition Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Work Hours/Schedule: PRN (As Needed), preferred work hours 7a-7p Mon-Fri and the potential for call when necessary on off hours and weekends

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality and Safety
-Working to promote safety and quality within the patient care environment
-Consistently follows policy and procedure for Patient -Safety Items (i.e. hand hygiene, Pt ID, time outs)
-Consistently identifies, addresses and reports all safety issues as appropriate
-Ensures patient safety by individualizing procedural care and utilization of appropriate supports
-Consistently utilizes collimation, and optimal source image distance in minimizing exposure to patient and surrounding personnel
-Consistently programs proper pressure injection rates, assuring pressure injector syringe is appropriately purged and air free
-Consistently Demonstrates effective radiation safety for self and all other personnel utilizing , time, distance and shielding
-Consistently performs patient observation during procedures
-Identifies, initiates, and follows through on opportunities for improvement related to quality care
-Initiates the SALT process, participates in Safe Choices investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as events are identified

Procedural assistance and scrubbing
-Assisting physicians with all aspects of diagnostic, interventional and operative procedures performed within the cath lab.
-Works to establish a rapport with all physicians, anticipating their needs and following closely the expected, logical and sequential events of the case
-Consistently demonstrates the knowledge and dexterity skills necessary to utilize interventional wires, catheters, stents, sheaths, balloons, etc.
-Consistently demonstrates an overall awareness of patient response, monitor readings, physician needs, in ever increasing levels of procedure complexity
-Ability to anticipate complications, and work in concert with physician at an elevated level of performance and speed
-Consistently demonstrates appropriate medication labeling and orderly layout of instrument table
-Consistently demonstrates appropriate sterile technique
-Consistently participates and promotes "procedural timeouts" immediately prior to starting procedure
-Consistently demonstrates the ability to appropriately perform "sterile prep" for all patient procedures
-Consistently demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
-Consistently communicates chronological procedure events to monitor person for appropriate documentation.

Hemodynamic Monitoring/Reporting/Documenting
-Assessing continuously patient status throughout procedure
-Consistently recognizes, interprets and conveys to physician & team, all ECG arrhythmias, and changes in patient’s hemodynamic status
-Demonstrates the ability to perform advanced 2 and 3 transducer simultaneous monitoring and recordings
-Demonstrates the ability to acquire pertinent data for calculations of valve areas, cardiac outputs, flow reserve and pressure gradients
-Consistently initiates and participates in “Time Out “procedure prior to starting exam
-Consistently demonstrates the ability to remain focused, multitask and simultaneously communicate, monitor, document and record all aspects of procedural events both in written and electronic form
-Demonstrates the ability to monitor and document more resource intensive cases, such as Right Heart catheterizations

Digital Imaging & Acquisition
-Actively participates in quality patient care by providing safe delivery of ionizing radiation to patients, including utilization of optimal image acquisition techniques, panning, collimating and radiation shielding.
-Provides quality care services in conjunction with nursing personnel, and physicians to provide a team approach in patient care delivery.
-Understands and operates the digital imaging x-ray systems and other equipment including but not limited to: intravascular ultrasound, Angiojet, Rotablator, pressure injector, defibrillator, temporary pacemaker, NIBP, Co-Ox, ACT, Doppler, IABP,
Bovie cautery, and pressure wire.
-Demonstrates knowledge and serves as a resource person in vascular anatomy, catheterization techniques and selection of, appropriate balloon, stent, catheter, closure device and wire.
-Demonstrates ability to correctly label and acquire digital images in all procedure rooms, correctly uploading and archiving images to various network servers
-Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
-Demonstrates basic understanding of Windows operating systems, relational databases, network servers, archive jukeboxes, and PC work stations.
-Demonstrates a sound knowledge of quantitative image enhancement, subtraction, pixel shifting, and annotation
